Since 2010, Britain's national mapping agency Ordnance Survey has released a significant amount of free map data that UK Map incorporates into a unified app offering. In this app, you'll find the 1:1M MiniScale® and 1:250k road maps pre-installed, alongside the option to download the detailed 1:25k district maps and 1:10k street maps for the entirety of the UK by utilizing 5km by 5km tiles. To enhance the free O.S. data, footpaths sourced from volunteer-collected data on OpenStreetMap.org are added, available for download at no cost.

For additional detail, users can purchase and download 1:50,000 and 1:25,000 maps that faithfully replicate the Ordnance Survey paper maps, or opt for the more detailed 1:10,000 maps in select urban areas.

Once downloaded, detailed maps can be accessed offline without the need for an internet connection.

The app supports GPX file loading - allowing import of waypoints, tracks, and routes obtained from websites, other applications, or nearby devices via AirDrop. Furthermore, users can create waypoints, plan routes, and document tracks within the app itself for export if desired.

Additional features include displaying graphs showcasing altitude or speed along recorded routes and tracks, a 3D mode for visualizing terrain such as hills and mountains from various viewpoints, and a comprehensive searchable gazetteer comprising over 250,000 place names, 850,000 street names, and 1.6 million postcodes. This data operates seamlessly even in offline scenarios thanks to its integration into the app.

For those equipped with a compass and GPS-enabled devices, the app supports displaying position, orientation, and altitude information.
